Literacy integrated in education and training settings

To stop people dropping out of courses, particularly vocational courses, teachers and other educators need to integrate literacy into the course. This helps to reduce literacy barriers to learning the subjects or skills students need to complete their course. NALA work to:

• make teachers and trainers aware of the value of and how to integrate literacy into the training centre or classroom.
• develop guidelines on integrating literacy and materials into a specific education and training service.
• run national and regional conferences to share research and practice in integrating literacy
• promote professional development and staff training integrating literacy.
